A common question we get is:
“When do I get to choose the brands or grain weights of my ammo?”
Short answer: You don’t choose the brands, but you do choose the caliber and purpose.
With AmmoSquared, you select the caliber and the purpose (Practice, Self-Defense, Hunting, Match)
- From there, we take care of the rest, using a blended pricing model to give you a variety of high-quality ammunition from brands we trust.
Here’s a breakdown of what each purpose means:
PRACTICE
Ammo for training and plinking. Always factory new, brass-cased. You won’t receive steel or aluminum-cased ammo unless you specifically choose the steel-case SKU (currently only in 7.62x39).
SELF-DEFENSE
Ammo suitable for defensive use. Bullets may expand, tumble, or use hydrostatic shock depending on the caliber.
HUNTING
Ammo for game animals. We match bullet types and weights to the most common game hunted with that caliber.
- Shotgun options are further refined by game type and lead-free needs.
MATCH
Top-tier, highly accurate ammo for sport shooting and competitions.
What Brands Will I Get?
We use a blend of trusted brands like: PMC, Fiocchi, Federal, Winchester, Remington, Aguila, Speer, and more.
- We don’t guarantee which brands or grain weights you’ll get in a specific shipment, but we always aim to deliver a variety based on what’s available and fits your selected purpose.
Want to See What We Typically Use to Fill a Purpose?
You can view the brands and grain weights we’re currently using by visiting the Prices/Calibers page and selecting the graph to the right of the caliber/purpose.
- Keep in mind: our inventory changes often based on availability, manufacturer shipments, and demand.
