Here’s What to Know.
At AmmoSquared, flexibility is the name of the game, and that includes how you manage your ammo purchases. One question we occasionally get is: “Should I open more than one Ammo Plan?”
The answer? It depends on your needs, so here are some things to consider to help you make that decision.
Why You Might Want Multiple Ammo Plans
The most common reason to open more than one Ammo Plan is for scheduling purposes. If you want your AutoBuys to run on specific dates rather than specific days of the week, multiple Plans are the way to go.
Let’s say you want to AutoBuy twice a month, on the 1st and the 15th. Our system doesn’t currently allow two different schedules within the same plan, so you’d simply create a second Ammo Plan and set it to run on your second date. Easy!
Another great use case is setting up plans based on different use cases. Here are some examples:
- one plan for your range ammo;
- one plan for a specific training class with a different budget and frequency, then pause it until you need to start stacking for your next class;
- one plan for hunting that you set to run just quarterly (because let’s face it, you only need so much for that once-a-year trip), and take shipment once or twice a year;
- one plan to use it like an investment, and possibly never take delivery;
- and/or keep one plan purely for long-term stacking.
What to Keep in Mind
While having multiple Ammo Plans offers flexibility, there are some trade-offs to be aware of:
-
Separate Settings: Each plan runs independently; your AutoBuy budget, Shipping Triggers, and Allocations are not shared between plans. You’ll need to manage each one separately.
-
Shipping Triggers Don’t Combine: If you have a $250 shipping trigger set for one plan, it won’t pull value from your other plans. Triggers are plan-specific, which can sometimes take longer to trigger separately.
- Most People Only Need One: In our experience, most customers only need one Ammo Plan. One plan can handle multiple calibers, unique allocations, and shipping triggers, all organized in one.
Final Tip
Accidental Extra Plans: A lot of customers end up opening multiple plans without realizing what they’re for. If you’re not sure, stick with one! It keeps everything simple and runs smoother. If you’ve already created more than one and don’t want it, don’t worry, you can move ammo from one plan to another. Just follow these easy steps: Moving Ammunition Between Ammunition Plans.
If you do want to open another Ammo Plan (intentionally), just click “Start a New Ammo Plan”. You’ll go through the same setup process as before, choosing calibers, setting a budget, selecting your frequency, and setting allocation percentages.
We’re always here to help you make your setup work best for you, whether that’s one plan or more. If you're not sure, reach out, and we’re happy to take a look and make some recommendations.
